The overseas cattery and "imported kitten" scam
What happened
A documented scam pattern. A slick cattery website offers rare kittens and claims they will be imported or flown in, sometimes operated from outside South Africa (a Sphynx kitten scam was traced to operators abroad). After the deposit, the "import" runs into a chain of fees: crates, permits, vet clearance, quarantine. There is no kitten. Be extremely cautious with any cat you must pay for sight-unseen and have shipped from far away. Buy from a local registered breeder you can visit, and verify them with CFSA or SACC.
