Fake breeder, pet-shop and courier websites
What happened
A documented scam pattern. A Gauteng-based syndicate runs over 100 professional-looking websites selling puppies, kittens and exotic birds, paired with matching fake "pet courier" sites that exist only to demand shipping fees (News24). The sites use stolen photos, fake reviews and have no real animals behind them. Warning signs: many breeds offered at once (a hallmark of puppy mills and scams), payment only by EFT or e-wallet into a personal account, no physical address you can visit, and a "courier" the seller insists you must use. A real, registered breeder usually focuses on one or two breeds and will happily let you visit. Check any breeder with KUSA before you pay.
