Nothing goes live on PetGuru until you are verified — which is the point, because it is what buyers filter for. You can build your listing as a draft while we check you out; registration is free and most routes need no documents at all.

What does PetGuru offer?
PetGuru is a South African pet platform covering four things: a marketplace for pets from verified breeders and shelters, rehoming for owners who need to find a new home, a directory of verified vets, groomers, trainers, sitters and boarding, and AI tools for looking after a pet once you have one.
Is PetGuru free to use?
Browsing pets, the directory, the magazine and the community is free. Registering as a breeder or a business is free, and verification costs nothing. Boosts, sponsorships and buyer-lead unlocks are the paid options.
How does PetGuru verify sellers?
Every breeder, business and merchant is checked before anything they list goes live. Depending on the trade that can mean an ID check, a registry lookup such as SAVC or KUSA, proof of address, or a vet attestation. You can prepare your listing as a private draft while verification is under way; it is published once you are approved. Verified accounts carry a badge that buyers can filter by, and unverified accounts do not appear in the directory.
What are the AI tools on PetGuru?
Pet Scan reads a photo for breed, condition and a care plan. The AI Pet Companion answers questions about your own pet using its record. The Health Calendar tracks vaccinations, deworming and vet visits and reminds you before they are due.
What is PetGuru Scam Watch?
Scam Watch is a public database of reported pet scams in South Africa, showing the patterns to recognise before you pay a deposit. Reports are reviewed before they appear and the name of the person reporting is never published.
Can I list a pet I need to rehome?
Yes. Rehoming is a separate channel from selling: it is for owners finding a new home for their own pet rather than breeders selling litters, and it has its own listing form and its own verification path.
