The overpayment and refund scam (aimed at sellers)
What happened
A documented scam pattern that targets people selling pets or pet supplies. A "buyer" sends you a payment for more than the agreed price, then claims it was a mistake and asks you to refund the difference. The original payment is fake or is later reversed, so you lose whatever you "refunded". Watch for buyers who overpay, who are in a hurry, and who push you to send money back before you have confirmed the funds have truly cleared. Never refund an overpayment until your bank confirms the money is genuinely settled and irreversible.
