Pedigree kitten deposit scams (Bengal, Ragdoll, Sphynx, Maine Coon)
What happened
A documented scam pattern. Luxury cat breeds like Bengals, Ragdolls, Sphynx, Persians and Maine Coons sell for a lot, which makes them a favourite for fraud. Scammers build fake catteries using the names of well-respected registered breeders and photos stolen from real South African and overseas catteries. Buyers pay deposits and "courier fees" into local bank accounts and no kitten ever arrives. Protect yourself: verify the breeder directly with the Cat Federation of Southern Africa (CFSA) or the Southern African Cat Council (SACC), reverse image search the kitten photos, and visit the cattery in person before paying.
