South Africa's breed clubs have guarded their breeds for generations — some for the better part of a century. Yet online, most of them are running on borrowed time: a website that costs money every month and goes stale between committee volunteers, a member list kept on paper, a dog registry that is "under construction" year after year, and no way for a buyer to check whether the breeder claiming club membership actually has it.
We built Clubs & Communities to close that gap. Not a Facebook group, not another website to maintain — a living page inside South Africa's most trusted pet platform, where the parts that always go stale are fed by live, verified data and the parts that make a club a club stay entirely in the club's hands.

Every club page starts from one principle: a club's name belongs to the club. Nobody can create a page in your name without passing our identity review, nothing we draft is final until you correct it, and the moment you claim your page, every word of it answers to your committee.
Your knowledge outranks ours. The colour standards, the health context, the breed history — your corrections overwrite anything we wrote.

Pages are assembled from blocks in our builder — no code, no web designer, no hosting bills. You arrange them, a live preview shows the real page as you work, and your club's name and identity always stay fixed at the top.

The Colour Standard, Enforced
Each breed's colour table with its health context — and colours with known welfare risks are excluded from PetGuru's certified section entirely. "Rare colour" marketing gets no oxygen here.

Open, approval-based or invite-only joining — your choice. Your committee approves, promotes and removes members, and members are notified at every step.
Endorsements Only You Can Grant
Approved members of a verified club carry a "Member, {your club}" badge on their public profiles — granted through your roster, never self-claimed, gone the moment you remove them.

Starting a Club: Step by Step
Apply from My Clubs
Any signed-in member can start: My Clubs → Start a Club. Tell us the club's name, its breeds, and — the important part — how we can confirm you genuinely represent it: KUSA affiliation, NPO registration, your name on the club's own site.
Build in Private
Your club is born as a private draft. From day one you can open the page builder, arrange every block, write your history and seat your committee — visible only to you and PetGuru admins until approval. Nothing waits on the review.
We Check Who You Are
A club page is a claim about representing an organisation, so our team reviews every application against the club's own public records. This is the step that makes sure nobody ever wears a real club's name without the right to. Returned applications keep everything — revise and resubmit whenever you are ready.
Approval Makes You Public
Your page goes live at its own address under petguru.co.za/clubs, listed in Clubs & Communities and linked from the breed surfaces buyers already browse.
Verification Unlocks Endorsements
Approval and verification are two different things. Verification is the evidence-backed grade we grant once we have confirmed your committee truly speaks for the organisation — and it is what activates the "Member" badge your roster can grant. For buyers this closes a real gap: club membership used to be just words; on PetGuru it is a verifiable claim.
